Police Light Fasher Using 555 Timer

Police Light Fasher Using 555 Timer

Components required:

  1. 2 x 555 timer IC
  2. Resistors: 1kΩ, 220Ω,10kΩ
  3. 3 x Polar Capacitors: 1μF,16V voltage rating each
  4. 12 x LEDs: Red and blue (or any other colors you prefer)
  5. Power supply (5-12 V) or battery 9V
  6. Breadboard or PCB (Printed Circuit Board)
  7. Connecting wires.

Circuit Diagram:

Here's the circuit diagram and the steps to build the police light flasher:
  1. Connect your power supply's positive terminal to the breadboard's positive rail.
  2. Connect the negative terminal to the (GND) rail of the breadboard.
  3. Place the 555 timer ICs on your breadboard or PCB.
  4. Connect the positive terminal of your power supply to pin 8 (VCC) of the 555 timer ICs. Connect the negative terminal to pin 1 (GND).
  5. Connect Capacitor (C1) to the breadboard's rails.
  6.  Connect one terminal of capacitor (C2) to GND and the other terminal to pin 2 (trigger) of 555 IC 1.
  7. Connect pin2 of 555 IC 1 to pin6 (threshold).
  8. Connect pin6 to one terminal of10kΩ resistor. Connect terminal 2 from pin3 to the Red LEDs negative terminal.
  9. Connect one terminal of the 220Ω resistor to the negative terminal of the blue LEDs. Connect the other terminal to pin 3(output) of 555 IC 2 perpendicular to terminal 1 of 1MΩ resistor.
  10. Connect one terminal of the Capacitor (C3) to GND and the other terminal to pin2 of 555 IC 2. Connect pin2 to pin6.
  11. Connect pin6 to terminal 2 of 1MΩ resistor.
  12. Connect the positive terminal of Red LEDs to the output of 555 IC 1. Connect the positive terminal of the Blue LEDs output of 555 IC 1.
Double-check all the connections to ensure they are properly made and secure.
Once everything is connected, power on your circuit.

The circuit will produce an alternating flashing effect between the red and blue LEDs, resembling a police light flasher. You can adjust the flashing speed by changing the values of the resistors and capacitors connected to the 555 timer IC. Experimenting with different values will allow you to achieve the desired flashing rate.
